ABOUT ME

Born in Bath, Somerset UK, I married my ex husband in 1987, in March of 1992 we adopted two little girls after being unable to have our own.

When we realised the eldest had learning difficulties, we instinctively turned to the social services for help.

The next few years brought more heartache and disruption in our lives than we ever could have imagined.

Nevertheless, the love for my daughter stayed strong and I continued my battle for help.

Unlike the States, obtaining mental help for ones children in the UK has become more increasingly difficult over the years due to lack of funding. One can only see a psychiatrist or any other type of professional if one is referred and the only way one can obtain a referral is if someone will listen.

Up until now, failed adoptions are a hidden part of society, the lack of support and failings of the professionals are finally being revealed with books like mine.

I would  like to thank family and friends who were a great source of support through very difficult years.

And to my daughter Maryann, I thank you for making me realise  how kids like you are a neglected part of society and for all your help and support in writing your story so that we may help others. I love you sweetheart.
